Dutch television exposes Miracle of Love

Big news in The Netherlands regarding destructive groups, cults, or in Dutch "sekte".

It has been five years since I first spoke in public about Miracle of Love, in a conference in Groningen organized by the counselor Sjoukje Drenth Bruintjes. I hesitated at first to speak in front of a large audience, but then I decided it was part of my own recovery to expose the games of Miracle of love group.
After that I was asked to present on the Miracle of love organization at the annual International Cultic Studies Association (ICSA) conference in Bruxelles in June 2007 (see the full story of my talk here).

Through the writing in my blog I have also been able to help people who were thinking about leaving MOL, and family members who had loved ones lost inside MOL, who didn't know how to relate to them anymore.

Though Miracle of love has been exposed by journalists over the years across Europe and USA, and ex-members like me have spoken openly about our personal experience with MOL, the group didn't cease to exist. It is difficult to understand or believe a story like mine if you have no experience. People need to be educated of the damage groups like these are inflicting on its members.

But... this Sunday, on February 27th, the Dutch investigative journalist Alberto Stegeman will reveal in his tv program 'Undercover in Nederland' some intense and never seen before images of what really goes on behind the closed and guarded doors of Miracle of love.

For a year, Alberto Stegeman and his team secretly infiltrated the Miracle of Love cult. The television program will show the outcome of this outstanding undercover action for everybody to see and realize how bad such group can be.

Mol originated in the USA, in the beginning of the '90s. This so-called "spiritual" organisation has spread easily and fast on German territory with Munich as the mother center for Europe. Only after Mol was talked about critically by some magazines like Der Spiegel, the leaders thought it would be better to move to the Netherlands: a nation were everything is tolerated and freedom of opinion is highly valued, where rules and regulation around destructive groups and spiritual organization have yet to be put in place.
Since 2006, Utrecht has become the new, rich soil to plant the poisonous seeds of thought reform, brainwashing, power games (it is all in the end about money, money, money) and massive manipulation. Attracted by some well-to-do people in the area, soon it became the new place to recruit members and money. At the same time the mother center in US moved from San Diego to Denver in Colorado.

Finally the pot will be stirred and the manipulative game exposed. If a single voice is not understood, or misunderstood because it is "only" a personal experience, now there will be proof. Thanks to the hidden camera scenes, the real nature of the secretive group that proclaims to have the only way to freedom will be revealed.

Thursday 24 Feb I watched an introductory preview of the program. I am certainly impressed by the short footage I saw, and by what the Undercover team have been able to accomplish in one years' work.

Mol better close down the shop after Sunday night. And the politicians in The Hague may start to do some serious thinking.

Undercover in Nederland will be broadcast on Sunday 27 February on SBS 6 at 9.30 p.m.

Standing still

Now I am standing still
watching the dirty water arise.
The transparency of the lake
will reveal
the insanity of its secret below.

The moon eventually
will shine even brighter
once the monster has been evacuated

Then you may see yourself
for who you truly are.
